Model Q&A: Clarke Flowers
Originally from Portland, Clarke Flowers is a model and media planner based in Atlanta, GA.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
A: I was born and raised in the city of roses, Portland, OR. I moved to Atlanta around 2015. Prior to moving to Atlanta, I was modeling full time. Through modeling I was exposed to this world of creativity that I'm not sure I would have had access to—things like brand campaigns—in the way I did had I not been a model.
My intrigue with modeling and my love of people is what sparked my passion for media planning. I still thoroughly enjoy modeling and building brand awareness, but now I get to expand my passion and focus on helping brands in a new strategic way.
Q:
How did you get into modeling?
A: I was always an unusually tall child. I was 5'7" by the time I was in the 8th grade. I wasn't into sports....like at all. I was very into dance and creative expression. I got scouted one day at the mall (yes the shopping mall where teenagers hung out lol).
My parents initially were really against me pursuing modeling at such a young age. I didn't fully commit to modeling until I was 18. I was officially in college and kept getting approached to model. One day I was like you know what, I'm going to go for this!
This also coincided with the time I decided to shave my head. I guess I was really going through some things at this time. I was finally ready to reject what I thought I needed to look like to be more appealing to the opposite sex. I was finally embracing all of my quirks and beginning to really love things about myself that I tried so hard to hide. I felt super empowered while modeling, especially in Portland. There are so many creatives doing things that break out from the noise.

Q:
What are three fun facts about you?
A: I am obsessed with yoga! Creating memories with my loved ones is one of my favorite activities. And my husband and I are also expecting our first child this summer!
Q:
What are some of your local businesses?
A: My favorites in Atlanta to work with would be the women at Closetier, Kenya Mollie (@sylviamollie), Asiyami Gold (@asiyami_gold), Sherica Maynard of Interior Designs by S&S (@interiordesignsbysns), and Mobs Roberston (@yoyomobs).
Q:
What have been some of the most fun and inspiring projects/collaborations you have worked on?
A: One of my favorite projects that I got to work on in Atlanta was this amazing shoot for CURLBOX. It was the first time I had EVER been on set where every single person looked like me. That is incredibly rare and I have never experienced anything like it before, especially coming from Portland. I got to work with one of the most amazing photographers ever, Itaysha Jordan (@itayshaphoto). Seriously, it was like legendary for me working with someone who I save all of their work as inspiration over and over. I was totally fan-girling with the level of talent on set that day.
Q: How can the community help and support you during this time?
A: The best way to support me is to support those that I've called out that I adore working with. Support your local creatives by asking them what they need.
