Makeup Artist Q&A: Lysandra Joy
Meet Lysandra Joy Leary: a Cali girl and Navy Veteran who works as a licensed esthetician and makeup artist in Atlanta.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
A: I’m a licensed esthetician and makeup artist at The Spa at W Hotel Downtown Atlanta. I also like to channel my experience to help beauty brands, businesses and bloggers as a freelance virtual assistant. I’m always looking for strategies of improvement, and I’m never satisfied with the status quo of an ordinary life and business.

Q: Where are you from?
A: I grew up in Palm Springs, California but left at age 19 to join the Navy. Once I was discharged while in San Diego, California, I decided to stay there. I recently moved to Atlanta, GA in the summer 2019.
Q: Who inspires you and your business?
A: My business, House of Vine LLC, is named in memory of my grandmother Elvina (Vine), a single black woman who raised five kids, owned homes and then single-handedly raised her grandkids. She instilled in me a love of beautiful things and a work ethic that demands results and guarantees a better way of living.
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I love yoga, trail walking or hiking, trying new places for happy hour and shopping.
Q:
What are three fun facts about you?
A: I used to belly dance for three years. I've recently taken up boxing. I hate doing my own hair so I'm obsessed with going to Drybar weekly, which sucks for me right now [considering the quarantine].
Q: What are some local businesses that you love working with?
A: I really enjoy working on the photoshoots for Closetier—there are always good vibes, good people and good photos.
Q: The coronavirus has had a devastating effect on small businesses. How can the community help?
A: Since the beauty industry is non-essential at this time, I am currently pushing the Virtual Administrative Assistant aspect of my business on Task Rabbit and offering $10 off your next task. So, if you need to outsource any of your admin work that slows you down, I can help with: email management, proofreading, social media posting/scheduling/content creation and management, project management and Pinterest management.
